WHY YOU SHOULD START USING EYE CREAM

Hey beautiful people!

How are you all?? I am getting ready to head back to uni – STRESS! I’m gonna be pretty busy so apologies in advance if some posts come to you a little late! I’m also going to get back on my YouTube game.

Today’s post is about something that has become a NECESSITY in my skincare regimen – eye cream. I really don’t know why it took me so long to jump on the eye cream bandwagon but I am a devotee now. “Why do I need eye cream?”, you may ask. To sum it all up, the skin around our eyes is extremely fragile and pretty weak so that’s often the first place on the face to show signs of ageing. On top of that, if you don’t get enough sleep, if you don’t moisturise your face properly, if you’re extremely stressed, if you don’t drink enough water and if you don’t eat healthy food, it will show around your eyes first! So taking care of the skin around your eyes is CRUCIAL. Many of us wear down and/or damage the skin around our eyes on a daily basis – from rubbing your eyes vigorously to removing make up aggressively. And while we should always take care of our skin (and eyes) from the inside by sleeping a lot, avoiding stress, eating right and drinking litres of water, we can’t all be salad-eating, water-guzzling completely calm individuals 24/7 (maybe like 20/5). This is where eye cream comes in.

Very little darkness underneath my eyes after using these eye cream constantly (that’s my dog, Spock lol)

At the end of last year, I started to notice fine lines appearing underneath my eyes. I’ve always had issues with dark circles (the bane of my life) but where did these fine lines appear from?! I really didn’t like the way they looked and nothing I was doing was working. So I did some research and found out that eye cream helps with things like this. Within a few months of CONSTANT use, I definitely began to see a big difference underneath my eyes. My dark circles weren’t as dark and my fine lines weren’t so prominent. Two things before we go further: 1) by constant use, I mean every single day twice a day. Yes, every day. 2) this was all combined with making a serious effort to get more sleep and the fact that I drink 2-3 litres of water daily.

There are sooooo many eye creams out there. Most of them will claim to fix dark circles, fine lines and puffiness. It’s one of those things where you just kind of have to try a bunch of different ones and stick to the ones that work for you depending on what under-eye issue you have. So if you have puffiness, you may want to go for a eye cream that contains caffeine. If you can’t find one, try keeping your regular eye cream in the fridge – the cold temperature will help the cream reduce the puffiness. If your issue is fine lines or dark circles (like me), look for something with a creamy texture to really moisturise the area.

I’m out of the REN eye cream but this is The Body Shop one

I swap between two eye creams, both of which I’ve mentioned on here a million times lol: The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream (buy here or here) and REN Keep Young and Beautiful Firm and Lift Eye Cream (buy here or here – you can also get this one at Sephora, Whole Foods and large department stores). These two are very good! They’re both creamy but they’re not heavy so they’re perfect if you like to wear make up. The REN one (£28/$40) is creamier but it’s also more than double the price of the Body Shop one (£12/$19.50). A little goes a long way so they last for agessss.

So there we have it guys!! Eye creams have really helped with my under-eye issues and I’m pretty certain the right eye cream will help you too! Give it a go and let me know. And if you have any other eye cream suggestions, let me know!

Love,

Tara xXx
