NATURE’S LOCKS IS 1!

Hello hello!

Today is an exciting day!! NATURE’S LOCKS IS A YEAR OLD!! *woop woop*

I honestly cannot believe we’re here! I came up with the idea to start a blog a whole 6-7 months before I actually started it. I told my parents and brothers I wanted to start a blog and they all got rather excited trying to help me come up with a name and stuff. I chose a name and set it up. But it just lay idle because I was scared. Scared of people thinking it was dumb. Scared of putting myself out there. Scared of it failing. Just scared.

But just after my birthday last year (September 17th), I had a bit of revelation. I don’t really know why or how. I just knew that I didn’t feel fulfilled and I wanted to do something other than school. Then one day, I was having a conversation with my mum and telling her I was scared to start the blog. And she said to me “Tara, fear is the killer of dreams. Okay, what’s the worst that will happen? People won’t like it. It’s not the end of the world” (I swear mothers literally speak the gospel). That gave me the kick up the backside and I decided to go for it.

Honestly speaking, starting this blog was the BEST thing I have ever done in my life. In just one year, I’ve met some really really awesome people (okay I haven’t met all of them because some are my insta-friends), I’ve had some amazingggg opportunities (like writing for tw magazine and Curls Understood) and, most importantly, I’ve been able to help some people. And I’ve been able to talk/write about what I love non-stop lol.

I just want to say a hugeeeeee thank you to God and EVERY SINGLE ONE of you. Whether you’ve come on the blog once or whether you come on here weekly without fail, THANK YOU! From my Twitter followers to Facebook likers to Instagram followers to Snapchat friends to real life family and friends! You are all amazing and thank you. I have so much more planned for the entire Nature’s Locks brand. Just wait on it!

I just want to leave you with this message: if there is something you want to do, GO FOR IT! Do not let fear stop you from doing something really cool or fun or amazing. There WILL be haters (bruh if you know how many backhanded “compliments” I got!!!). There WILL be challenges (e.g. when you have school/uni/a job and you don’t have time to blog, technical difficulties). You might fail. Or it might take a while for things to take off. But when it does work, the rewards will be incredible. I’ve only been here for a year. I haven’t made a dime from this blog. But doing something I love and helping people is a fantastic reward (corny emosh Tara over here lol)!
