Hey guysssss!!
How are things?? I currently have so much school work and stuff so I’m trying to stay sane loll.
As you can tell from the title, today’s post is gonna be a little different to the normal stuff. I’m gonna be including some different posts here and there! So I hope you enjoy this one. I thought it was apt seeing as it’s exam season!
Stress can be a terrible terrible thing. And I am the champion stress-er and worrier. If there was a prize for overthinking and worrying, I would take gold every single day of the week. But recently, stress has been taking such a major toll on me. I mean, a few months back, I was so stressed that I got this crazy rash on my face and my hair was shedding like crazy. And I decided that I needed to get my life together. I know a lot of you suffer from stress – whether it’s family issues, school work, relationship issues, your career or anything else. So I put together some tips to help you de-stress!
If you haven’t tried this one, you need to! Writing your thoughts down can really help you to break things down and handle your sadness/stress/rage etc. Sometimes, I’m so stressed that I don’t even know what’s stressing me if that makes any sense lol. But writing it down really helps to organise my thoughts. You don’t have to do it everyday but just do it whenever you can.
Find something that takes your mind off everyday life. For me, it’s blogging and YouTube! Try to find something that doesn’t feel like a chore, something that will take your mind off work and school or uni and something you truly enjoy. Not saying go and quit your day job lol but find something fun! It can be anything from going on walks to cooking to reading!
This really really helps me. I haven’t really got the meditation thing down yet but when I’m super stressed and worried, I find that it really helps to say a quick prayer. It just calms me down and re-centres me.
I did this the other day and it was one of the best things I’ve done in a while. As much as we may love talking to our friends/family and stalking people on Instagram or Twitter, sometimes it’s good to take a break. Putting your phone away for a day really helps you to escape from the often overwhelming cyber world. You actually don’t realise how much that constant buzz of your phone can add to your stress. Turn it off or put it on do not disturb!
Everyone knows that nothing improves a bad day like a hot, steamy cup of tea. For a more relaxing cup, try chamomile tea or peppermint tea. A cup of tea can honestly be so soothing and calming. I probably drink about 5-6 cups of tea a day lol and it always helps to calm me down.
Nothing helps me destress like a good workout or a leisurely stroll. It really takes my mind off whatever is stressing me at that time. Also, exercise causes your body to release endorphins, which make you happy and give you energy. I often have the best workouts when I’m stressed because I see it as a great way to escape.
Okay, blog readers, I’m revealing this to you and I’ve never told anyone this because it’s pretty embarrassing – when I am super stressed and nothing seems to help, I lock my bedroom door, turn some music on and dance. I literally dance like a mad person. I’m not kidding. I dance until I’m out of breath and until I see how ridiculous I am and collapse in a heap of laughter. It actually works. Find something silly and do it! Whether it’s dancing, getting dressed up in weird clothes or pretending to be Beyonce on stage (I do this too *covers eyes*). Trust me, it works.
I believe everyone should do this as often as possible but, hey we don’t always have that time! A great way to destress is to pamper yourself. If you can afford it and you have the time, go to a spa and get a massage, mani-pedi and whatever else. And if you don’t, there are ways to pamper yourself at home. Take a nice long bath (without your phone!) or give yourself a DIY facial or a mani-pedi. Whatever floats your boat!
This sounds totally ridiculous. I know. But there’s been this wave of adult colouring books and I have to say…it works lol. Just sitting there and colouring away really does take you into your own little world. And it makes you feel like a kid again. Also, it unleashes your inner artist!
This is the real KEY. Get rid of things that stress you. This includes people lol! I know it’s not always possible to eliminate the things and people who may stress you out BUT at least try to reduce those things as much as possible. Nothing and nobody is worth your mental health going down the drain.
So cuties, I hope you enjoyed that post! Just remember, we only have one life to live. Don’t waste it being stressed all the time. I know it’s easier said than done and it’s something I still struggle with everyday. But it’s a process and it takes time. Don’t beat yourself up about it too much!
Love,
Tara xXx
