Hey guys!

How’s everyone doing?? I hope we are all still safe and healthy. Don’t forget to stay home to stop the spread and hopefully we will all be out of this craziness soon!

For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while (thank you!), you know that deep conditioning is extremely key for healthy hair. During this time, some of you may be stuck at home without some of your favourite products – you may have had to settle for products that aren’t up to par. Or you might just want to give your hair some extra love and attention while you have the time to do so. One of my favourite ways to enhance a subpar product or to give my hair some extra TLC is by “boosting” my deep conditioners. I choose “boosters” that add extra nourishment to my hair and I’m always happy I did! Here are a few of my faves:

  • Honey – honey is really the GOAT. It’s great for your health, your skin, your hair, your life. I love it. Honey is great when added to your deep conditioner because it’s a humectant – this means that it draws moisture in to your hair from the air. It is super hydrating and it gives your hair a lovely shine. It is always my number 1 go to when I want to boost my deep conditioners. Plus honey is pretty much a household staple so I know I always have it with me!
  • Oils – oils have really been instrumental to my hair health over the years. Aside from using them for hot oil treatments, pre-poos, scalp massages and for sealing my hair, I love to add them to my deep conditioners because they add nourishment and shine to the hair. Different oils have different nutrients and qualities so the exact benefits depend on which oils you use. You can use any oils you like – I typically prefer to use slightly thicker oils like coconut oil, olive oil and Jamaican black castor oil. My favourite oils to use for this are the Nature’s Locks Reparative Hair Growth & Sealing Oil or the Nourishing Hair & Body Oil because both contain these 3 oils.
  • Ayurvedic powders – I did a post on Ayurvedic powders just a couple of weeks ago. I love adding them to my deep conditioners because they add so much shine, lustre and strength to my hair. I love how beneficial Ayurvedic powders have been for my hair and adding them to your deep conditioner is a great way to incorporate them into your routine, especially if you are new to Ayurveda.
  • Aloe vera – I’m pretty sure literally everyone on earth knows about aloe vera. If you need more info, here’s a post I did a while ago. Aloe vera is really THAT plant. I feel like it cures pretty much everything and the HYDRATION it gives your hair is truly second to none. I love adding it to my deep conditioners for that extra hit of moisture. You can either scrape the gel from the leaf (my favourite method) or you can add aloe vera gel or juice from a bottle. My hair is always at its most moisturised when I use aloe vera regularly.

There we have it guys! Of course there are so many ways to boost your deep conditioner but these are my tried and tested ways! I hope this helps someone. Stay safe!

Love,

Tara xXx
