Hello hello people!

Now, JAMAICAN BLACK CASTOR OIL! In my opinion, this oil is very very underrated. I don’t remember when I first heard about this oil but God bless whoever it was that told me about it. I would go as far as saying that after coconut oil (original bae) and olive oil (new bae), JBCO (buy here) comes next on my list of favourite oils. Yes, it is very thick. And yes, it is a teeny bit stinky. It’s also an anti-bacterial and anti-microbial (yay!). But its benefits definitely outweigh the negatives.

1) SAVE THOSE EDGES – after I did my big chop/transitioning, I wore braids basically for two years straight (with breaks obviously). My hair grew like a weed BUT my edges were a different story. Ladies and gents, with nightly applications of JBCO, my edges were restored! I still make sure to use it at least 3 times a week to keep my edges in check. I would advise applying water or a light moisturiser to your edges prior to applying a bit of the JBCO.

These two edge controls contain JBCO to strengthen those edges: Curls Blueberry Bliss Control Paste and Shea Moisture JBCO Edge Treatment

2) THICKEN YOUR BROWS AND LASHES – this one is my favourite use for JBCO! If you have sparse eyebrows or eyelashes and you want to grow them back, try applying a thin layer of JBCO a few times a week with a spoolie brush. With prolonged used, you will see changes. Just don’t get it in your eye lol.

3) THICKEN YOUR HAIR – I have found JBCO to be a proven way to thicken my hair. I like to mix it with coconut oil or olive oil and apply it onto my scalp and hair as a pre-poo before I wash my hair. Not only has it sped up growth but it also makes my new growth soft and very manageable. I’ve also found it soothes an itchy, dry scalp. LOVE IT!

You can find some leave ins that contain JBCO, such as this one from Shea Moisture

4) EXCELLENT SEALANT – I haven’t found any oil that seals my hair as well as JBCO. This may not work for you if you don’t have thick hair because it is a pretty thick oil. But when I use JBCO as a sealant, the moisture stays in my hair for days. If you don’t want to put oil all over your hair, try just using JBCO to seal your ends. Not only does it keep your ends moisturised but it softens the hair.

Try to find a bottle of JBCO that’s in a dark bottle to preserve the nutrients and qualities

I hope JBCO is just as useful for you as it is for me! Do you guys use JBCO in any other ways??
